January 27, 1880: Thomas Edison received a patent for the first practical incandescent light bulb.  He developed the work of others and is not the sole inventor.

The light bulb marked a turning point in human history, it influenced culture and daily life, becoming a symbol of modernity and progress. It transformed working conditions by providing better visibility and meant that factories could operate around the clock.
