January 27, 1880: Thomas Edison received a patent for the first practical incandescent light bulb. He developed the work of others and is not the sole inventor. The light bulb marked a turning point in human history, it influenced culture and daily life, becoming a symbol of modernity and progress. It transformed working conditions by providing better visibility and meant that factories could operate around the clock. Technology brings so much good but as ever it changes everything we do, it impacts our daily lives. Back in the late1800s people who had electrity in their homes were seen as wealthy and 'well-to-do', it's the same today.
