I was excited anyway to be involved in this exhibition but I didn't know Laurie Lipton was too! She is one of my idols.
As an artist who draws, I have my drawing idols; they are a different set to my digital, painting, sculpture and other idol groups. My drawing idols are intrinsic to what I do, they act as a guiding light, I see what they achieve and I study their technique.
Drawing can be very slow, so when you see the size and detail of Lipton's work, you have to be amazed. Her themes are so pertinent, she comments on our world and it's just so brilliant, she is the GOAT!
Mat Gleason organized the exhibition at the Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles. He created an amazing opportunity for artists to exhibit in Los Angeles, which has been another target for my career. I love exhibiting in Las Vegas, but you have to spread your wings. I showed in the UK in 2024 and 2025, in London and then at the Hive at Worcester University . I have a solo show in Las Vegas opening in June this year and now I have also had work in Los Angeles. And to top it off, my drawing sold! I am lost for words!
